Here is the official synopsis of the film:

The definitive origin story from Buzz Lightyear – the hero who inspired the toy – follows the legendary Space Ranger on an intergalactic adventure. “Buzz’s world has always been something that I’ve been excited about,” said director Angus MacLane. “In ‘Toy Story,’ there seemed to be this incredible story of him as a Space Ranger that’s only scratched the surface, and I’ve always wanted to explore that world further. So my ‘Lighytear’ pitch was: “What movie did Andy see that made him want a Buzz Lightyear toy? I wanted to see that movie. And now I have the chance to do it.

Light year is slated to be released — the press release doesn’t say whether it’s coming to theaters or Disney+, oddly enough — on June 17.
